Regents Award

Regents' awardThe Regents Award for Outstanding Service to Higher Education was created in 1996 after former Regents Eddie Basha and Art Chapa proposed the award to recognize those groups or individuals who make important and lasting contributions to the higher education system in Arizona. Regent Donald Ulrich developed the concept for the ten pound bronze sculpture of a globe with a mortar board and diploma.

The award was developed by a committee of current and former Regents who also established criteria for nominees and selected the first year's winners. The cost of creating and casting the bronze award is entirely funded by private contributions from current and former Regents.

Nominations are made by or through any current or former Regent.
