UA Center Receives Nearly $1 Million from NIH

Soda fountain machines harbor fecal bacteria, study finds

University of Arizona microbiologist Charles Gerba told ABCNews.com that coliform bacteria have been seen in drinking water dispensing machines where the customers fill up jugs of water. “You see it anytime you have something where people can touch the dispenser,” he said.

Legislature's inaction leaves Shelton "stupified"
By Becky Pallack. [Memo from Robert N. Shelton]. Days before Christmas, we were informed by the Governor’s office that the state would not be making its December general fund appropriation to the three ABOR universities. In our case, that amounts to about $30 million. We were told that cash-flow difficulties made the payment impossible, but that it would be forwarded to us as soon as possible, but at this time, the exact date is uncertain.
