A committee representing a cross-section of university and community interests has been named to aid in the selection of the next president of Arizona State University.
Donald J. Ulrich, Jr., president of the Arizona Board of Regents and chair of the search committee, today announced the committee's membership. A list of committee members is attached.
"I am pleased with the quality of the people selected," said Ulrich. "I am gratified by the substantial number of qualified individuals who volunteered to serve on the committee. It was a difficult selection process, but I think we have assembled a committee that will represent the various stakeholders of ASU, the community and state at large."
"The search committee ensures community participation in the effort to recruit the most highly qualified candidates to serve the interests of ASU and the state of Arizona," said Ulrich. "A national search will be conducted in a thorough, yet efficient, manner. We hope to make the final appointment of the next ASU president by early Spring."
The first meeting of the search committee is tentatively scheduled for late August.
President Lattie F. Coor, 64, who has served as President since January 1990, has announced his intention to retire on June 30, 2002
