Francis B. McAllister established the Frances B. McAllister Endowed Chair in Community, Culture and the Environment at NAU in 1997. She also has generously supported academic programs in the History and Political Science Departments as well as the College of Business. She has sponsored the J. Lawrence Walkup Professorship and has contributed to KNAU Public Radio.
In addition to her long-standing support of NAU, McAllister has served on several Boards of Arizona art and cultural institutions for 35 years. In Northern Arizona, she served on the Boards of, and contributed to numerous educational and community institutions, including:
Museum of Northern Arizona
Flagstaff Symphony
Suzuki Program (in Flagstaff public schools)
Flagstaff Festival of the Arts
Lowell Observatory
Northern Arizona University
McAllister also serves on the Board for the Arboretum of Flagstaff, which she helped establish in 1981. Her generous gift to the Arboretum included her home and property.
