ABOR hires executive search firm to assist with UArizona presidential search

The Arizona Board of Regents selected SP&A Executive Search to assist with the national search for the 23rd president of the University of Arizona.

SP&A Executive Search is a boutique woman- and minority-owned executive search firm specializing in and exclusively dedicated to serving the higher education and non-profit sectors.

The firm successfully helped to identify Northern Arizona University President Dr. José Luis Cruz Rivera in 2021 when the board undertook a national search for a dynamic, accountable and innovative president.

“Hiring this firm is the next step in the search process. The firm has a long history of excellence in conducting searches for university presidents, including NAU President Cruz Rivera just three years ago,” said ABOR Chair Cecilia Mata. “SP&A will aid our efforts in finding candidates with the leadership characteristics necessary to lead an institution as exceptional as UArizona.”

The board announced the formation the UArizona Presidential Search Advisory Committee last week, which has already begun its work in earnest. The public is invited to attend a town hall on April 24 to provide feedback about the search process as well as the leadership characteristics for the next president of the university.
