Regent Greg Patterson was appointed by Gov. Brewer to an eight-year term on the board in 2012. He currently serves as chair of the board and as chair of the Regents Executive Committee. He is an ex officio member of all standing committees except the Regents Executive Committee. 

Regent Patterson lives in Tempe and has served as the director of the Arizona Competitive Power Alliance since 2001. In 2008, he was elected to the Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board of Directors, which runs the Maricopa Medical Center, 11 clinics and the burn center. He has also held positions as chief of staff for the Arizona State Senate (1999-2001), director of the Residential Utility Consumer Office (1995-1999); lecturer for World Bank and USAID, and is a former Arizona State Representative. Regent Patterson graduated with distinction from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management Accounting Program in 1985. He received his law degree in 2008 from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.
