What's covered?

The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and mandatory fees after other financial aid on a first-come, first served basis as required by A.R.S. § 15-1809.02(D).* At a private postsecondary educational institution, awards are up to the average resident tuition and fees charged by universities under the jurisdiction of the Arizona Board of Regents after other financial aid.

How to qualify:

Qualifying students must be either a dependent under the age of 27 or a spouse of a currently employed law enforcement or correctional officer and:

• Enroll at a participating Arizona institution in a program that will award a career technical education district program certificate or license, private vocational program certificate, associate degree or baccalaureate degree.
• Must be an Arizona resident when applying and when the scholarship is disbursed.
• The law enforcement officer or correctional officer must be a resident of Arizona.
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Submit a copy of the Law Enforcement Officer’s Commission Card as applicable.
• Submit a current employment verification letter.
• Submit a marriage certificate for a spouse, or a birth certificate or applicable court order for a dependent.

*Under A.R.S. § 15-1809.02(B), ABOR cannot award a scholarship until a student's eligibility has been verified. That process includes confirmation from the student's institution regarding enrollment and the amount of the award. Once eligibility is confirmed, scholarships are awarded in the order institutional verifications were received, subject to available funding.

Application

NOTICE (September 24, 2026): Applications for the 2026–2027 Spouses and Dependents of Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers Tuition Scholarship application opened on July 17, 2026. Demand for the scholarship exceeded available funding this year. As a result, there is a waitlist should funds become available.
