Arizona Board of Regents Executive Director Chad Sampson joins Greater Phoenix Chamber Board of Directors

Sampson brings a statewide perspective on talent development and will help strengthen the alignment between Arizona’s public universities and the region’s economic growth strategy.

Chad Sampson, executive director of the Arizona Board of Regents, has been appointed to serve on the Greater Phoenix Chamber Board of Directors.

The Greater Phoenix Chamber catalyzes regional prosperity with forward-thinking public policy, intentional economic growth and career-ready talent. The chamber pursues this mission by collaborating with business, political and community leaders to grow the regional talent pool, create a regional approach to economic development and drive a pro-Arizona agenda.

“I am honored to join the Greater Phoenix Chamber Board of Directors and contribute to its mission of fostering a strong, career-ready workforce,” said Sampson. “Arizona’s public universities are engines of innovation and opportunity, preparing the talent that will shape our state’s future. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members to harness the full potential of higher education as a driver of economic growth and help build a stronger, more competitive Arizona for generations to come.”

The Arizona Board of Regents named Sampson as executive director in August 2024. He joined the board in 2010 as associate general counsel and transitioned to vice president of strategic planning before serving most recently as vice president of academic affairs and institutional analysis. A member of the State Bar of Arizona since 2002, Sampson has also worked in private law practice with Quarles & Brady and in the Arizona Attorney General’s Office as counsel for the Arizona Department of Education.

“We are proud to welcome Chad to the Greater Phoenix Chamber Board of Directors,” said Todd Sanders, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber. “As executive director of the Arizona Board of Regents, Chad brings a vital perspective on how our public universities are fueling Arizona’s economic future. His leadership will help strengthen the alignment between higher education and industry, ensuring we grow the talent pipeline needed to meet the demands of tomorrow’s economy.”

In addition to his duties on the board of the Greater Phoenix Chamber, Sampson also serves on the WestEd Board of Directors and as a commissioner on the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). He has previously served on the board at Tempe Preparatory Academy, Center for After School Excellence and the Arizona State Board of Education’s Professional Practices Advisory Committee. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at Mesa Community College.
