ASU coach Kenny Dillingham and U of A coach Tommy Lloyd to deliver welcoming remarks at opening day of Arizona legislature
What: Arizona State University football coach Kenny Dillingham and University of Arizona men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd will provide special remarks today as part of the opening day ceremony of the 57th Arizona Legislature.
The coaches, who have energized Arizona fans with winning seasons and championship-caliber teams, have united communities across the state through their leadership and success, exemplifying how working together can inspire pride and progress for all Arizonans.
The Arizona Board of Regents extends its appreciation to Speaker of the House Montenegro for including both coaches in the day’s agenda.

Inviting Coach Dillingham and Coach Lloyd to Opening Day was a way to celebrate the Arizona brand and the work they do to inspire excellence on and off the field. When: Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, beginning at noon. The coaches are expected to speak soon after the ceremonies begin.

Coach Kenny Dillingham:
- Led the Sun Devils to a Big 12 championship and a College Football Playoff appearance in the 2024 season, marking ASU's first CFP berth in school history.
- Named 2024 Big 12 Coach of the Year in recognition of his leadership during ASU’s remarkable season.
Coach Tommy Lloyd:
- The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation under his leadership (2025–26 season).
- Holds an NCAA record for the most wins by a Division I coach in his first two seasons (61).
