Ranked by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), this impressive achievement showcases NAU’s open environment for free speech. This ranking reflects the university’s commitment to freedom of expression with notable high marks for its tolerance of conservative speakers and not shouting down or otherwise preventing speakers from expressing their views on campus. In addition, Arizona State University and the University of Arizona also have “green” FIRE ratings – the highest FIRE rating – recognizing the commitment of the universities to free speech."
